Hi everyone,

Well, I’m at it again and looking for a new trumpet!  Those that know me know I have a C AR Resonance.  I got that horn to match my dearly beloved AR Bb Suprema.  The Classica C is the nicest C trumpet I have ever played and I will miss it.  However, Covid has caused me to “downsize” my collection coming in to this particularly bleak gigging summer.  I just can’t justify having such a wonderful horn for as little orchestral work as I have been (or looks like will be) playing.

So my beautiful AR Classica C will be at Thompson Music . Mike Thompson is a good friend and will take good care of you if you are interested in trying or buying my horn.   One of the other trumpets in this comparison is a Benchmark C.  This make was new to me and it is a beautiful trumpet with impeccable intonation (and turquoise finger buttons!)  It is also for sale at Thompson Music . To hear my AR, you can listen to virtually all of the classical etudes or solo repertoire I have recorded on this site for the last 4 years.

You can also hear it here in this post next to a Benchmark and Bach 239!

I have been asked to record the Wisconsin State Honors Audition Etude for the upcoming 2022 season.  The audition piece is #16 from Sigmund Hering’s 32 Etudes for Trumpet.  I thought this would be good fodder to do a little trumpet comparison.  I recorded #16 three times using the same mouthpiece (AR Sergei) and trying to play it with the same energy and expression each time.  Below are links to those three takes as well as a link to my Soundcloud page where the three takes are saved as a playlist.

Feel free to post a comment on what you think of the horns!

Enjoy.
