Hello Friends,
I hope that you all know that I rarely promote musical events with which I am involved. However, I would like to make an exception and let you know about a very special concert for me on October 9, at 7:30pm at the newly renovated Fredric March Play Circle in the UW-Madison Memorial Union.
This concert will be kicking off a brand new concert series for Madison, called the InDIGenous Jazz Series.
This concert is also special for me in that is will serve as a CD release concert as well. About a year ago I recorded a set of mostly original tunes with Johannes Wallmann, Mark Urness, and Ernie Adams. This concert will be the first time we have gotten to perform these tunes since the recording session. And, the first time most of these tunes have even been performed by these musicians for an audience!
This recording was a very meaningful project for me and I am especially excited to finally present it “live” in this beautiful new concert space.
The first half of the program will consist of material from my new CD, “The Journey” performed by myself with Johannes – piano, Nick Moran – bass and Ernie – drums. Then the second half we will be joined by one of my dearest friends, Tom Gullion on saxophone. From there, it’s a little hard to tell where the music will go! It will be a mixture of my tunes along with Tom’s and Johannes’ compositions. I am very much looking forward to this night. I hope you can join us.
